How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Description

Priory Hospital Ayr Clinic
Salary £31,249- £38,080 dependant on experience
Full Time/37.5 Hours

Priory Ayr Clinic is looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist to join our established Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary team. This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week within the Ayrshire area.

Location: Ayrshire – Ayr, Prestwick and Mauchline

Priory Ayr Clinic, alongside its step-down services at Gatehouse and Lochlea, provides specialist low secure mental health care for males and females with a range of complex mental health needs, including mental health diagnoses and/or personality disorders.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team and contribute to the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery of the individuals within our care.

You will work as part of an established Occupational Therapy service alongside other Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants, while also working closely with colleagues across psychiatry, nursing, psychology and the wider multidisciplinary team.

The role offers the opportunity to work with a varied caseload, delivering meaningful, occupation-focused assessment and intervention within both individual and group settings. You will support service users to develop skills, independence and engagement in meaningful occupations as part of their recovery and rehabilitation journey.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will play an important part in supporting service users throughout their recovery and rehabilitation. You will manage a designated caseload and use your Occupational Therapy skills to assess occupational needs, develop treatment plans and deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to individual goals.

Your responsibilities will include:
Completing Occupational Therapy assessments and identifying individual occupational needs, strengths, goals and barriers to participation.

Developing, coordinating and reviewing individualised Occupational Therapy treatment plans and interventions.

Planning and delivering meaningful, occupation-focused individual and group interventions to support recovery, rehabilitation and independence.

Responding to referrals and prioritising interventions based on identified clinical and occupational needs.

Evaluating outcomes and adapting interventions in response to service user progress and changing needs.

Maintaining accurate, timely and high-quality clinical documentation to evidence intervention, progress and outcomes.

Working collaboratively with service users, the Occupational Therapy team and wider multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated, person-centred care.

Supporting and supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants and other junior staff as appropriate.

Contributing to service development and promoting the role and value of Occupational Therapy within the wider service.

Ensuring clinical practice is delivered in accordance with professional standards, organisational policies, statutory requirements and relevant quality standards.

Additional information regarding the role and responsibilities can be found within the attached job description.

What you'll bring to the role

Working within forensic mental health can be both rewarding and challenging, and no two days are the same. We are looking for someone who is compassionate, motivated and able to build effective therapeutic relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

You will be able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, using your clinical reasoning and Occupational Therapy skills to support individuals with complex needs to work towards meaningful recovery goals.

The successful candidate will require:
A recognised BSc (Hons), MSc, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.

Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) is desirable.

We want you to succeed at Priory and thrive in your role. You will be well supported with regular career conversations. We also offer full training and numerous pathways into leadership and qualified clinical positions to help you shape your career with us.
