About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join a well-established manufacturer of cable management, cable protection, identification and connectivity solutions.
This is a 70/30 split between new business and existing account development, making it an ideal role for a commercially driven BDM who enjoys hunting for new opportunities while also growing established customer relationships. You will be responsible for developing the Midlands territory, targeting OEMs, electrical contractors, distributors, wholesalers and industrial end users.
The business has a strong reputation for providing technically focused solutions across sectors including industrial automation, electrical and electronics, automotive, rail, energy, telecommunications and manufacturing. You will be selling a broad portfolio of products including cable ties, cable protection, cable identification, cable glands, clips, mounts and specialist connectivity solutions.
You will have significant autonomy over your territory, identifying new markets, developing relationships with key decision-makers and converting opportunities into profitable long-term accounts. At the same time, you will work closely with the existing customer base to identify cross-selling, upselling and growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a structured Midlands business development strategy.
Generate new business through proactive prospecting and networking.
Manage and grow an existing customer portfolio.
Maintain a 70% new business / 30% existing business focus.
Target OEMs, distributors, wholesalers, contractors and industrial end users.
Build relationships with technical and commercial decision-makers.
Deliver product presentations and customer meetings.
Prepare quotations and commercial proposals.
Maintain an accurate CRM and sales pipeline.
Monitor competitor activity and identify new market opportunities.
Work collaboratively with internal technical, sales and operational teams.
About You
Proven Business Development experience is essential.
Strong background within an electrical environment is essential.
Experience with cable management, cable accessories or C-Class components is highly desirable.
Experience selling technical products into OEM, industrial, contractor or distribution markets.
Demonstrable track record of winning new business.
Strong commercial, negotiation and influencing skills.
Comfortable dealing with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
Self-motivated with excellent territory and pipeline management skills.
Full UK driving licence.
