The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
My client has an immediate vacancy for a Senior Civil Engineer in Derby, to work within their experienced civil engineering design team.
Responsibilities
The Senior Civil Engineer role will involve the design and drafting of SuDS schemes, private externals works, Section 38 and Section 104 works for adoption.
The role will also include the design and drafting of civil engineering works across sectors including residential, industrial, commercial and more.
Designs range from multi-storey structures to small housing schemes and range in construction value from £250,000 to £30M.
Many projects are undertaken to BIM level 2.
The team works for clients throughout the East Midlands and United Kingdom.
Design works are undertaken using Microdrainage, InfoDrainage, Civil3D and PDS industry standard software with final drawings produced in AutoCAD.
The role will also involve deputising for the team leader regarding the planning and organisation of tasks, people and resources to deliver projects on time and in accordance with the current design guidelines.
Experience
The role would suit a civil engineer with strong post graduate experience.
The successful candidate will be given on the job training to develop their skills and they will work closely with the other members of the civil engineering team, with additional mentorship provided to work towards Chartership with the ICE.
Client care is of paramount importance as a company and the successful candidate will be an able communicator, both in written English and verbally, in person and on the telephone.
Knowledge of the construction industry, relevant design standards and basic health and safety is essential.
A logical analytical approach to problem solving should be demonstrated.
Specific experience in the use of AutoCAD for technical drawing will need to be demonstrated at interview.
Experience in the use of Civil3D or PDS, and InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage is required.
Education
A strong background of English, Mathematics and a logical analytical approach to problem solving should be demonstrated.
The successful candidate will be qualified as noted above, computer literate, being fully competent in the use of Word and Excel.
