How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a commercially driven Sales Team Leader or Sales Manager who knows how to motivate people, develop client relationships and create a high-performing sales culture?

Do you enjoy leading from the front, developing new business and helping individuals achieve their full potential?

We are recruiting for an established, privately owned business operating across rail, engineering, automotive and technical markets.

The business is looking to appoint a hands-on leader to take responsibility for an established Derby-based team of approximately six to seven people.

This is a genuine opportunity to make an impact.

You will be responsible for creating commercial momentum, strengthening client relationships, improving individual performance and identifying new opportunities for growth.

The team operates within a specialist, target-driven environment, delivering solutions to clients across technical sectors.

We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced sales leaders from engineering, manufacturing, industrial, technical services, or other relevant B2B environments.

What matters is your ability to lead people, generate business, build relationships and deliver commercial results.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Leading, coaching and developing an established team of approximately six to seven people.

Creating a proactive, commercially focused and high-performing team environment.
Setting clear objectives, performance expectations and measurable targets.
Conducting regular one-to-ones, coaching sessions and performance reviews.
Supporting team members with client development, negotiations and commercial opportunities.
Identifying and developing new business across rail, engineering and technical markets.
Strengthening existing client relationships and identifying opportunities for account growth.
Leading from the front through direct client engagement and business development.
Monitoring team activity, pipeline, forecasting and commercial performance.
Addressing performance challenges constructively and supporting individual development.
Working closely with senior management to deliver growth objectives.
Supporting recruitment, onboarding and development as the team expands.

    ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a commercially credible leader who combines strong sales ability with genuine people-management skills.

You may currently be working as a:

    Sales Team Leader
    Sales Manager
Business Development Manager with team leadership responsibility
    Commercial Team Leader
    Business Manager
    Branch Manager
    Technical Sales Manager
Recruitment Team Leader or Recruitment Manager

    You will ideally demonstrate:

Proven experience leading, coaching or developing a sales-focused team.
A successful track record in business development and revenue growth.
The ability to create structure, accountability and consistent performance.
Strong client relationship and stakeholder-management skills.
Confidence setting targets and conducting performance conversations.
A hands-on approach to sales and new business development.
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
The ability to motivate people while maintaining high standards.
Experience operating in a target-driven commercial environment.

A background within engineering, rail, manufacturing, automotive, industrial services, technical sales or specialist recruitment would be advantageous.

However, we are open to applications from strong B2B sales leaders in other sectors who can demonstrate relevant commercial success and transferable leadership experience.

We would also welcome applications from established senior sales professionals who have already taken responsibility for mentoring, coaching or developing colleagues and are ready to progress into a broader leadership position.

    WHY CONSIDER THIS ROLE?
Join an established, privately owned business with a strong presence in specialist technical markets.
Take responsibility for an existing team with opportunities for further development.
Enjoy genuine autonomy to influence team culture, performance and commercial strategy.
Work with established clients while developing new business opportunities.
Benefit from a competitive basic salary, car allowance and performance-related earnings.
Play an important role in the continued growth of the Derby operation.
    Access longer-term career development opportunities.

This role will suit someone who enjoys being close to the action, leading people, developing business and taking ownership of results.

If you are looking for an opportunity where your leadership and commercial experience can make a visible difference, we would welcome a confidential conversation
