The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We’re supporting a leading civil engineering contractor in the North East who is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of commercial delivery across major civils and infrastructure schemes. This role suits a commercially strong QS who can lead project finances, manage subcontractor accounts, and support strategic commercial decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership: Lead cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting across multiple projects.

Subcontractor Management: Oversee procurement, payments, variations, and final accounts for subcontractor packages.
*
Valuations & Applications: Produce accurate valuations, monthly applications, and cost plans.
Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify commercial risks and opportunities, advising senior management on mitigation strategies.

Collaboration with Site Teams: Work closely with Site Managers, Engineers, and Project Managers to align commercial and operational progress.
*
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
What You’ll Bring
*
Proven experience as a Senior QS or strong Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering.
*
Solid understanding of groundworks, drainage, utilities, structures, highways, or public realm.
*
Strong commercial acumen with excellent analytical and reporting skills.
*
Ability to manage multiple subcontractor packages and lead commercial strategy.
*
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying preferred.
*
CSCS card advantageous.
