We are looking for compassionate, patient individuals to take on the role of a Tutor/Home Tutor delivering Therapeutic support. supporting a child who is currently disengaged from learning and requires a gradual, nurturing reintroduction to education.
About the Role
This role will begin within the child’s home environment, focusing on rebuilding trust, engagement, and emotional safety around learning. The aim is to provide a positive, gentle, structured therapeutic support, with the potential to gradually move into a learning centre or other suitable environments when the child is ready.
You may simply start with cups of tea at the front door or a relaxed conversation in the back garden. The main aim is to build trust and form a meaningful relationship.
This is not a traditional tutoring role. Progress may not be immediate, but the work you do is so important— instead, it will be small steps.
Once a child's confidence is built, you may be able to go on fun days out like taking them to teh park or going for a nature walk.
What the Role Entails
This role is centred around providing flexible, child-led support in a home environment, with a strong focus on engagement, wellbeing, and gradual progress.
* You must be able to travel to the child’s home address to deliver sessions
* The role may initially start on a part-time basis, depending on the child’s current level of engagement and readiness
* You may work with a small cohort of up to 3 children always on a 1:1 basis, depending on your availability and preferred working days
* You will be responsible for supporting and keeping EHCP targets up to date, tracking progress in a meaningful and realistic way
* Regular communication with parents, guardians, and professionals will be essential to ensure a consistent and supportive approach
* Sessions will need to be adapted daily in response to the child’s emotional needs, engagement levels, and any challenges that arise
This role requires flexibility, emotional awareness, and the ability to balance structure with a child-led approach.
