How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you a passionate Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in children's lives?

Do you have the patience, enthusiasm and dedication to support young learners throughout their primary education?

Could you help pupils develop their confidence, independence and essential skills through engaging and supportive learning experiences?

Would you like to join a supportive primary school where every child is valued, encouraged and given the opportunity to reach their full potential?

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a primary school based in Harrow. This is an exciting opportunity for a caring and motivated individual to support pupils' learning, development and wellbeing within a positive and inclusive school environment.

The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to help deliver engaging lessons, provide individual and small-group support, and ensure pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning by assisting pupils with classroom activities, reinforcing key concepts and helping children overcome barriers to learning. You will play an important role in creating a positive classroom environment where pupils can develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons in line with the primary curriculum.
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils access learning and make progress.
Assist pupils with literacy, numeracy, reading, writing and other classroom activities.
Adapt support to meet pupils' individual learning needs, abilities and learning styles.
Help create a safe, inclusive, structured and stimulating classroom environment.
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, resilience and positive learning habits.
Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs where required.
Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils to follow classroom routines and expectations.
Help prepare learning resources, classroom materials and activities.
Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to the class teacher on progress and areas of difficulty.
Support pupils' social, emotional and communication development.
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents/carers where appropriate.
Assist with classroom management and supervise pupils during lessons and school activities.
Encourage participation, teamwork and positive interactions between pupils.
About You

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

Experience working with children, ideally within a primary school or educational setting.
A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, caring, enthusiastic and proactive approach.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
A good understanding of classroom routines and behaviour management strategies.
The ability to support pupils with different abilities and learning needs.
Strong teamwork, organisation and time-management skills.
A flexible approach and willingness to support the class teacher wherever needed.
A commitment to creating an inclusive and positive learning environment.
An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of promoting children's welfare.
What We Offer

In return, we offer:

The opportunity to make a genuine difference to children's education and development.
The chance to work within a supportive primary school in Harrow.
A collaborative and welcoming staff team.
Opportunities to develop your skills and gain valuable classroom experience.
A rewarding role where pupils' progress, confidence and achievements are celebrated.
The opportunity to build experience supporting children with a range of learning needs.
A positive working environment focused on inclusion, wellbeing and educational progress.
If you are a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children learn, grow and achieve their full potential, we would love to hear from you.
