The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
This is a practical role based at a busy waste transfer site, working outdoors year-round as part of a supportive and experienced team.
The role is focused on the daily operation of site machinery, including excavators, material handlers, and telehandlers, supporting the efficient movement and processing of waste. Occasional general site duties will also form part of the role where required.
This position is ideally suited to an experienced machine driver, however we are also open to candidates looking to develop their plant skills within a stable, long-term role.
Experience is preferred; however, tickets are not essential as full training will be provided on-site. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to gain BRITTOp (BRITTOP) certification, including training on excavators, material handlers, and telehandlers.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating site plant and machinery, including excavators, material handlers, and telehandlers
- Loading, sorting, and moving waste streams safely and efficiently
- Supporting day-to-day waste transfer site operations
- Assisting with vehicle tipping and site logistics
- Maintaining a safe, tidy, and efficient working environment
- Delivering a high standard of customer service
Skills & Experience
Preferred:
- Experience operating excavators, material handlers and telehandlers (8–16 tonne)
- Previous experience within waste, recycling, or similar environments
