How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.

Job description

Brinsbury College, part of the Chichester College Group have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a College Community Support Officer at our Brinsbury College campus. You will join us on either a part time, permanent basis. In return, we will offer a competitive salary pro rata of £27,785 to £30,364 per annum (i.e. £8,336.83 - £8,938.76 per annum).

12 hours per week, 40 weeks per year – term time only

The College Community Support Officer role:

We are looking to recruit an exceptional candidate for this high-profile role.

You will be an integral member of the College Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team working alongside our Nurses, Counsellors and Support staff to ensure all our learners have the opportunity to experience our college in a safe and secure environment.

You will be the point of contact and link for the Brinsbury buses in connection with Compass Bus Company. You will also be a point of contact for students and staff with queries relating to the buses at Brinsbury. This would include dealing with incidents, contact with Compass and requesting new or replacement bus passes. 

Key Responsibilities of our College Community Support Officer:

Providing first response to incidents across the College site.

Acknowledge and deal with incidents which may occur from our Brinsbury Bus Service.

Demonstrating a proactive approach when answering queries from internal and external staff relating to the Brinsbury Bus Service. For example, issuing bus passes/tickets, maintaining records through Microsoft Office and communicating with Compass bus company.

Being aware of any areas of concern and assist managers or appropriate College staff to adopt a collaborative problem-solving approach to highlighted issues, and to implement de-escalation techniques and restorative justice.

Laising with curriculum and support teams where appropriate to provide advice, guidance and holistic support to students and staff.

Promoting positive behaviour in line with the College’s core values and uphold professional boundaries.

Maintaining accurate records.

Where applicable or appropriate, work with Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) and any associated radio links or watch schemes, to provide a proactive and regularly assisted support across the College and as appropriate in the local community.

Our ideal College Community Support Officer should have the following skills and experience:

GCSE Maths and English Language or equivalent at grade C/4 or above

Level 3 qualification in relevant subject area e.g. Coaching, Health and Social Care, Youth Work

Experience of working with young people (including 14-19 year olds) and vulnerable adults

Microsoft applications, including a working knowledge of databases

The ability to deal with sensitive situations and work in a confidential manner
