We are working with a leading international law firm to hire a Risk Lawyer in London. In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Head of Risk to provide day-to-day risk and compliance support across the firm's UK practice.
They are looking for a qualified lawyer (2 years PQE) with experience in a compliance or risk management role at a commercial international law firm. You must possess a strong working knowledge of the regulatory issues affecting solicitors across different jurisdictions and have the communication skills required to deliver pragmatic, creative solutions under pressure.
The responsibilities will include:
- Advising fee earners and business professionals across the firm on a broad range of professional conduct, regulatory mandates, and risk management queries.
- Supporting the Head of Risk and Director of Risk (who serves as the firm's COLP) to ensure all regulatory requirements are met across the UKIME offices.
- Reviewing, updating, and drafting firm-wide risk management policies, procedures, and precedents to ensure cross-border compliance.
- Assisting with the updating and structuring of client engagement documentation and Terms of Business, with a specific focus on regional nuances.
- Designing and delivering interactive risk management and compliance training programmes to legal teams and business services staff.
- Conducting global horizon-scanning exercises to identify emerging regulatory issues and legislative shifts that could impact the firm's international footprint.
- Partnering with other business professionals and practice groups to resolve ad hoc risk issues while protecting the firm's commercial interests.
- Contributing to the continuous development, monitoring, and improvement of the firm’s overarching risk management framework.
