Consortium Professional Recruitment are recruiting for a hands-on Finance Manager to join a growing SME entering its next stage of development. This is a key hire, with the successful person taking ownership of day-to-day finance and helping to shape how the finance function develops as the business grows.
The focus is clear: stronger financial control, better visibility and more confident decision-making. You will work close to the detail while providing the insight needed to identify risks early, improve existing ways of working and support sustainable growth.
This role will suit someone who is energetic, adaptable and keen to bring fresh ideas to the table. As the business continues to grow, there is also real scope for the position to develop, with the opportunity to build and lead a finance team and ultimately head up the finance function.
The Opportunity:
As a Finance Manager you’ll play a key role in:
Owning weekly cash position reporting and maintaining forward-looking cash forecasts.
Improving the speed, accuracy and quality of month-end reporting and management accounts.
Strengthening credit control, securing payment dates and reducing overdue balances while maintaining positive customer relationships.
Improving purchase ledger controls, invoice approvals, reconciliations and visibility of committed costs.
Working closely with external accountants and ensuring accurate, timely financial information is available across the business.
Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting, bringing new ideas and a fresh perspective to the finance function.
Supporting the continued development of the finance function as the business grows, with the potential to build and lead a team in the future. Your work will directly contribute to stronger financial control, earlier identification of risk and clearer commercial decision-making across the business.
About You:
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on finance professional who enjoys working in an SME environment and taking ownership of a broad finance remit.
You will bring:
Experience managing end-to-end finance processes in a hands-on role, ideally within an SME environment.
Confidence working across cash forecasting, management reporting, credit control and transactional finance.
An adaptable and flexible approach, with the ability to respond positively as priorities and business needs change.
Energy and enthusiasm, with the confidence to challenge existing ways of working and bring new ideas to the table.
A clear and constructive communication style, with the confidence to challenge, follow up and influence when needed.
Strong organisation and the ability to remain calm and focused when priorities compete.
Commercial awareness and a practical approach to improving financial processes and controls.
The ambition and capability to take on greater leadership responsibility as the business grows, with the potential to develop and lead a finance team in the future. If you’re looking for a broad Finance Manager role where you can make a genuine impact, influence how the finance function develops and grow with the business, we would love to hear from you.
