Role: Assistant Management Accountant

Salary: up to £38,000 (depending on experience)

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the finance team of a well-established manufacturing business.
Reporting directly to the existing Management Accountant, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance career and progress towards a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA or CIMA.
The role will provide broad exposure across transactional finance, month-end processes, management accounts and financial reporting, with the opportunity to develop your technical accounting skills within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities for Assistant Management Accountant:
* Processing and posting supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
* Matching purchase orders to invoices and resolving discrepancies.
* Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliations.
* Maintaining customer credit limits and supporting credit control activities.
* Assisting with month-end close procedures.
* Completing month-end sales reconciliations and analysis.
* Preparing month-end journals.
* Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
* Assisting with VAT returns and ensuring HMRC requirements are met.
* Liaising with suppliers and customers regarding invoice and payment queries.
* Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems.
* Supporting financial analysis, reporting and audit preparation.
* Helping to develop finance procedures, process guides and workflows.
* Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across finance processes.
Key Experience:
* Previous experience within an accounts or finance administration role.
* Good working knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
* Good Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.
* Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar.
* An understanding of VAT and basic tax principles.
* Experience using ERP/MRP systems would be advantageous.
* GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above.
* Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment would be desirable.
* Ideally working towards, or looking to work towards, ACCA or CIMA.
