Flexible Workforce Solutions are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join a highly regarded boutique hotel in Edinburgh.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented chef looking to take the next step in their career within a quality-driven operation that combines a busy restaurant, private events, and guest dining. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional food standards, supporting kitchen operations, and helping to develop a motivated and engaged brigade.
 
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will support the day-to-day management of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service across all food outlets while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and consistency.
Responsibilities include:

Supporting the Head Chef with the daily running of the kitchen
Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard
Assisting with menu development and seasonal menu planning
Managing stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships
Monitoring food costs, waste control, and kitchen efficiencies
Supervising, motivating, and developing junior members of the brigade
Ensuring all food hygiene, health & safety, and HACCP standards are maintained
Organising kitchen operations during service and maintaining a calm, professional environment
Working closely with front-of-house teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience
Supporting the Head Chef in achieving financial and operational targets About You
We are looking for a chef who is passionate about hospitality, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys leading by example.
To be successful, you will have:

Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an ambitious Junior Sous Chef ready to progress
Strong culinary skills gained within a hotel, restaurant, or quality hospitality environment
Experience managing stock, food costs, and kitchen administration
A sound understanding of food safety, allergen management, and HACCP procedures
Strong leadership and team development skills
The ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high standards
Excellent communication and organisational abilities
Professional culinary qualifications or equivalent experience
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak hospitality periods What's on Offer
