How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

The Team & Focus of the Role

We are on the lookout for a Receptionist to join our team in Birmingham on a 3 month FTC.

As Receptionist, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic setting where each day brings new challenges and opportunities. You’ll be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to high-quality service.

If you’re someone who enjoys providing a first-class client service to everyone that comes through the door and who enjoys the varied fast-paced office working environment, then we’d love to hear from you.

Due to the nature of the position, this is an office-based role working Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm.

In return, beyond your base salary you will be included in:

* A generous holiday scheme which commences at 25 days (pro rata) with a sliding scale up to 30 days plus an additional day for your birthday, and additional days to cover the festive period!

Duties will include:

* Act as the initial point of contact, offering a warm and professional greeting to visitors, clients, and colleagues.

* Manage the reception area, answer and direct telephone calls, take messages, and handle general enquiries.

* Provide hospitality for meetings, coordinate refreshments, and maintain well-presented meeting rooms.

* Oversee office management activities, including ordering stationery, office supplies, and refreshments.

* Receive, sort, and distribute incoming post, deliveries, and courier packages.

* Book and manage travel arrangements, accommodation, and event support.

* Liaise with contractors and service providers for maintenance and support.

* Maintain office tidiness and ensure communal areas are clean and welcoming.

* Maintain the kitchen tidiness and ensure dishwashers once finished are emptied as well as weekly food shops are put away once the delivery arrives.

The successful candidate will have...

* Highly Organised and exceptional service standards.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Experience in office administration and/or hospitality roles, especially managing reception desks.

* High level of reliability, professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.

* Proven organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
