The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Fulcrum Recruitment is working with a well-established civil engineering contractor that is looking to appoint an Estimator or Senior Estimator to support a growing pipeline of infrastructure and public realm projects across the North East.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineering Estimator who is looking to join a respected regional contractor with a strong order book, varied work and long-term progression opportunities.
The company delivers a wide range of design-and-build civil engineering schemes, including highways, roads, drainage, structures, footpaths, cycleways, flood alleviation and public realm improvements.
The Role
As Estimator / Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially sound tender submissions across a range of civil engineering projects.
You will work closely with senior management, pre-construction, commercial and operational teams to build robust estimates, assess risk and support successful tender submissions.
This role would suit someone with strong attention to detail, good technical understanding and previous experience pricing civil engineering works.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate tender estimates for civil engineering projects
* Build estimates using labour, plant, materials, prelims and programme-related costs
* Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and scope of works
* Issue subcontractor and supplier enquiries for specialist packages
* Analyse subcontractor returns and ensure pricing is complete and accurate
* Identify risks, opportunities and exclusions throughout the tender process
* Support tender settlements and present pricing information to senior management
* Liaise with internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors to validate costs
* Ensure submissions are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
* Support continuous improvement within the estimating function
Candidate Requirements
* Previous estimating experience within civil engineering
* Experience pricing schemes such as highways, roads, drainage, public realm, structures, flood alleviation or similar civils works
* Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and tender information
* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
* Good communication, organisation and time management skills
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure
* Experience using Causeway would be advantageous but is not essential
* A background in civil engineering, quantity surveying or construction-related discipline would be beneficial
