How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

Windsor Forest Colleges Group is looking for a part time Learning Support Assistant to join the team delivering our 14 to 16 Provision at the Berkshire College of Agriculture. This term time only position is for 20 hours per week across 38 weeks of the year, with a regular schedule working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm with a 20 minute unpaid break per day.

This permanent position has a salary ranging from £11,750.26 (G17) up to £12,580.71 (G19), depending on qualifications and experience. The full time equivalent for this scale is £25,483 up to £27,284.

Learning Support Assistant – 14 to 16 Provision

Learning Support Assistants are a vital part of Windsor Forest Colleges Group, helping students fully access their classes, achieve their learning goals and reach their full potential. Reporting to the Schools Programme Manager or Lead Learning Support Assistant, and working under the supervision of teaching staff, you will support whole classes, small groups or individual students in line with college policies and individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

As part of our Schools Provision, you will join a dedicated team supporting young people aged 14 to 16. Located in beautiful countryside surroundings, our provision offers a calm, nurturing and inspiring environment where students are encouraged to build confidence, develop resilience and focus on their personal growth. Building trusting relationships is at the heart of everything we do, and our team is highly skilled at helping students feel safe, valued and understood. This commitment to excellence is reflected in our most recent student satisfaction survey, which achieved an outstanding 94% satisfaction rate.

Your daily responsibilities will include assisting with the planning, delivery and review of learning activities, as well as supporting students to overcome physical, emotional and learning barriers. You will also assist with assignments, exam preparation and the development of essential English, mathematics and ICT skills. In addition, the role involves monitoring student behaviour, maintaining confidential records, adapting learning materials and supporting the use of specialist equipment where required.

To be considered for this role, you should have a positive attitude, a proactive approach and strong organisational skills. We welcome applications from individuals with experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting, and an understanding of how to support neurodivergent learners and those with additional learning needs. Essential qualifications include Level 2 qualifications, such as GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent), in both English and Mathematics. Candidates should be flexible and willing to adapt to the varying needs of the department, which may include supporting online learning or providing physical assistance to students with mobility needs. Finally, the successful candidate must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people, strictly adhering to College policies regarding Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Safety, Data Protection and Risk Management.

Join our exceptional team and make a real difference to the lives of young people, helping them to build confidence, develop independence and achieve success in a supportive and rewarding environment.

For further details on this role please refer to the attached job description / person specification.
