How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading infrastructure-led energy company that owns and operates a portfolio of energy assets across the UK. The business specialises in power generation, district heating and cooling, and industrial energy services.

As part of a planned £1 billion investment programme in the UK, the business is looking to appoint an Operations Compliance Manager (Portfolio HSEQ Manager) to develop and embed fleet-wide compliance systems, governance frameworks and operational standards that will support the next phase of growth.

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you'll lead the implementation of a compliance strategy that aligns management systems across the portfolio, delivers ISO certification across Quality, Health & Safety and Asset Management, and drives a culture of continuous improvement.

If you have the relevant experience (please see below) and are looking for a rewarding role in the Power sector, then please apply.

Responsibilities and duties:

As the Operations Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for:

Develop, implement and continuously improve the company's compliance, governance and assurance framework across multiple operational sites.
Implement, maintain and develop ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 55001 management systems, ensuring best practice is embedded throughout the business.
Ensure the portfolio remains compliant with environmental permits, statutory legislation and industry regulations while maintaining audit readiness.
Conduct compliance audits and assessments, identifying risks, driving corrective actions and delivering continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop and enhance policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work that support safe and efficient operations.
Lead environmental compliance activities, including regulator engagement, emissions reporting and permit management.
Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventative actions to improve business performance.
Partner with Operations, Engineering and Asset Management teams to promote a positive compliance culture and provide expert guidance across maintenance, outage and capital projects.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification).
Environmental qualification such as IEMA Practitioner or above.
CQI & IRCA Lead Auditor qualification (or equivalent).
Strong working knowledge of the CDM Regulations.

Personal skills

The Operations Compliance Manager role would suit someone with:

Significant experience within a compliance, HSEQ or governance leadership role in a heavy engineering or process industry.
Background in sectors such as power generation, district heating, industrial utilities, oil & gas, petrochemical, COMAH or other highly regulated environments.
Demonstrable experience developing compliance frameworks and governance systems across multiple operational sites.
Proven track record implementing and maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ideally ISO 55001 management systems.
Experience leading compliance audits, driving continuous improvement and influencing operational teams.
Multi-site or portfolio-level responsibility across geographically dispersed assets.

Salary and benefits of the Operations Compliance Manager role

Pension
Hybrid working (three days per week in the office, plus travel to operational sites)
