How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

South Thames Colleges Group is seeking a Management Development and HR Training Manager to lead the development and delivery of high-quality management development and HR training programmes across the Group. This is a key role in strengthening leadership and management capability, promoting the consistent application of HR policies and management responsibilities, and embedding the Group’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion through effective management practice.

You will lead the design and delivery of management development programmes for new and existing managers, including workshops, training sessions and leadership programmes covering areas such as performance management, communication, recruitment, change management and team leadership. You will provide one-to-one coaching and guidance, working closely with managers and HR to identify development needs and deliver targeted interventions. You will also evaluate the effectiveness and impact of development programmes, using feedback, performance outcomes and impact assessments to drive continuous improvement.

A key part of the role will be developing and delivering training and initiatives that embed equality, diversity and inclusion within HR processes and leadership and management practice. You will contribute to organisational development projects that strengthen workforce capability and engagement, and support the implementation of new policies, initiatives, systems and change programmes through effective training and development. Building strong relationships with managers and the Group Leadership Team will be central to the role, enabling you to support HR initiatives, College-focused activities and strategic action plans across the Group.

You will have proven and extensive expertise in designing and delivering management development programmes and HR training, with experience facilitating engaging workshops and professional development sessions. You will have a strong understanding of HR, leadership and management development principles, alongside sound knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion practices and relevant legislation. You will hold MCIPD or an equivalent professional qualification, together with a recognised training, learning and development qualification.

You will be an experienced coach, able to support managers at different levels and build their confidence and capability. You will demonstrate excellent facilitation, presentation and communication skills, together with the ability to evaluate learning and development programmes and demonstrate their impact. You will have experience embedding equality, diversity and inclusion through management development and training, with the ability to influence and support positive cultural change. You will be a collaborative and credible professional who can build strong relationships with managers and staff and work effectively with colleagues across the Group. You will be innovative in developing engaging learning experiences, proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement, and able to work independently, take ownership and deliver effectively against organisational priorities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced learning, development or HR professional to make a significant contribution to leadership capability, inclusive management practice and organisational development across South Thames Colleges Group.

This is a Group Wide post; therefore, you must be willing to travel to all College sites operated by the Group.

Closing date for the return of completed applications is 1st September 2026.

Interviews are to be held on Thursday 10th September 2026.

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 37 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees’ physical and mental health. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.

South Thames Colleges Group is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

As outlined in the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

The South Thames Colleges Group is made up of Carshalton College, Kingston College, Merton College and South Thames College, which merged on 1 August 2017.
