The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
A leading engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Cable Route Engineer to support the delivery of major offshore cable projects across the UK and internationally.
This is a key technical role within a well-established marine geoscience and ground engineering team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of offshore cable routing scopes, lead technical delivery, and play a visible role in developing capability within a growing renewables market.
The Role
You'll act as Technical Lead across offshore cable routing scopes, working on complex subsea cable projects within offshore wind, interconnectors and telecoms.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading GIS-based offshore cable routing and spatial analysis
Delivering Cable Burial Risk Assessments (CBRA) and Depth of Lowering studies
Analysing geophysical, geotechnical and geospatial datasets
Supporting bids and client engagement activities
Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development
Driving technical innovation and capability growth in cable routing
You'll work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including geophysicists, geotechnical engineers and geoscientists on a wide range of high-profile projects.
About You
Degree qualified (ideally MSc) in GIS, geoscience, subsea engineering or similar
Strong experience in offshore cable routing within renewables, interconnectors or telecoms
Proficient in GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Makai Plan or AutoCAD
Experience delivering CBRA and/or Depth of Lowering assessments
Comfortable working in a technical lead or senior capacity within multi-disciplinary teams
Strong communication and report writing skills
Desirable:
Exposure to cable installation or burial assessment surveys
Experience analysing AIS/VMS data
Working towards Chartership (ICE, SUT, Geological Society or equivalent)
