Senior Accountant Opportunity in York
The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of small and medium-sized business clients, acting as a trusted point of contact and providing a broad range of accountancy and tax services.
This is a genuinely mixed practice Accountant role, providing exposure to statutory accounts, bookkeeping, VAT, corporation tax and personal tax, rather than focusing on one specialist area.
Alongside managing their own portfolio, the successful candidate will help oversee junior members of the team, review their work and provide guidance and support where required.
Key Responsibilities - Senior Accountant Jobs York
The role will include:
* Managing a portfolio of SME clients from a range of sectors
* Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
* Providing ongoing bookkeeping and accounting support
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns
* Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
* Assisting with personal tax compliance
* Acting as a trusted adviser and point of contact for clients
* Dealing with client queries and providing practical accounting and tax advice
* Reviewing the work of junior accountants and providing constructive feedback
* Supporting and mentoring less experienced team members
* Managing deadlines and ensuring client work is completed accurately and efficiently
* Identifying opportunities to add value to client relationships
* Working closely with senior members of the practice on more complex assignments
Candidate Requirements - Senior Accountant Jobs York
The ideal candidate will have:
* At least 5 years' experience within an accountancy practice
* ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification, or be qualified by experience (QBE)
* Strong experience across accounts, bookkeeping, tax and VAT
* Previous experience managing a portfolio of SME clients
* Experience reviewing accounts and/or the work of junior team members
* Good knowledge of UK accounting and tax requirements
* Strong communication and client relationship management skills
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* The confidence to work independently and take ownership of client assignments
* A proactive and commercial approach to client service
