The Role:
An exciting opportunity to join CAF Rail Services at their brand-new overhaul facility in Manchester, working with state-of-the-art equipment in a modern, purpose-built environment.
You will be responsible for carrying out painting and shot blasting activities on rolling stock components, playing a key role in the refurbishment process. This position is critical in ensuring components are prepared and finished to the highest standards, consistently meeting strict quality and technical specifications.
Key Duties:
Carry out shot blasting of components and assemblies to required surface preparation standards
Operate and maintain blast equipment and booths safely and efficiently
Support paint spraying activities, including application of primers and topcoats
Undertake surface preparation, including cleaning and masking
Perform basic quality checks (e.g. surface profile, finish quality)
Work to technical drawings, specifications, and processes
Maintain a clean and organised working environment
Essential Skills:
Proven experience in shot blasting / abrasive blasting
Understanding of surface preparation standards
Ability to follow technical instructions and specifications
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Health & safety awareness when working with blasting equipment
Experience in industrial paint spraying (e.g. 2-pack, epoxy coatings)
Desirable:
Background in sectors such as rail, automotive, or structural steel
Knowledge of coating thickness measurement or inspection tools
