How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

Job Description

About the Role

As an Electrical Service Engineer within NOV's UK Aftermarket Service team, you will support the service, repair, inspection, installation and commissioning of NOV equipment at offshore and onshore customer locations worldwide.

This is a home-based role within mainland UK with extensive international travel on an ad-hoc basis. You will use your electrical maintenance and controls expertise to diagnose faults across electrical and control systems, including PLC and computer-controlled systems, AC and DC power systems and variable frequency drives (VFDs).

Depending on the work scope, you may work independently at customer locations or alongside mechanical and other Service Engineers as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role is highly customer-facing and requires a strong commitment to safety, quality and professional customer service.

Why This Role Matters

Reliable electrical and control systems are critical to the safe and efficient operation of customer equipment. By diagnosing faults, resolving technical issues and supporting installation, commissioning and maintenance activities, you will help customers minimise downtime and maintain operational performance.

Your technical expertise, flexibility and ability to respond to changing customer requirements will directly support the quality and reliability of NOV's global Aftermarket Service operations.

About NOV

NOV delivers technology-driven equipment, systems and services supporting energy operations worldwide.

Our Aftermarket Service organisation provides customers with the technical expertise and field support required to install, maintain, troubleshoot and optimise critical equipment throughout its operational lifecycle.

What We Offer

• Comprehensive product training delivered by NOV training personnel.

• On-the-job mentoring and field-based development alongside experienced NOV Service Engineers.

• Participation in the NOV Global Competency Program to support continued technical and professional development.

• Exposure to complex electrical, controls and troubleshooting activities across NOV equipment.

• Global field experience across offshore and onshore customer operations.

• A strong HSE-focused culture centred on safety, quality and operational excellence.

• Career development opportunities within a global engineering organisation, including potential progression into Technical Support, Aftermarket Projects and Programs, Field Engineering and Management.

• A supportive Service team where engineers share technical knowledge and provide support both in the field and remotely.

Diversity & Inclusion

At NOV, we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We value diversity in all its forms and believe that different perspectives drive innovation and success. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
