The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Role Overview
We are seeking a Design Engineer with experience in Structures and Geotechnical Engineering to support the delivery of infrastructure projects across a range of sectors, including water, transportation, and civil engineering.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to contribute to multidisciplinary design teams, working on projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality engineering designs while collaborating closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver civil, structural, and geotechnical design solutions in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Support projects through all stages of design development, from feasibility studies to detailed design.
- Produce and review technical calculations, reports, drawings, and design documentation.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary design teams to develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Attend design reviews and contribute to technical discussions and value engineering initiatives.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases where required.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, and client specifications.
- Assist with risk assessments, design reviews, and quality assurance processes.
- Support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
Essential
- Degree-level qualification (Level 6 or Level 7) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Working towards professional chartership with a recognised industry body such as ICE or IStructE.
- Demonstrable experience delivering civil and structural infrastructure design projects.
- Strong technical understanding of engineering design principles and relevant standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working within the rail or water sectors.
- Knowledge of WIMES and/or client-specific asset standards.
- Experience working on water or wastewater treatment projects.
- Exposure to mechanical and electrical design elements, including hydraulic calculations, pump selection, or related systems.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary design and build environments.
