Role OverviewYou’re the person people turn to when the question is not “how do we build this?” but “what should we build – and why?” You’re comfortable operating before things are clearly defined, shaping complex business challenges into structured, actionable solutions and staying involved to ensure they work in practice.
Key responsibilities- Lead Databricks‑driven engagements end‑to‑end: from defining architecture and approach to guiding delivery, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring the solution creates real value.
- Design architectures that connect business needs to technical reality, turning vague problems into clear plans.
- Apply depth across data and AI architecture: modern data patterns, distributed systems, large‑scale data processing, algorithms, performance trade‑offs, component interaction.
- Use Databricks tools – Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, ingestion, transformation, MLflow, etc. – to build lakehouse‑paradigm solutions.
- Incorporate machine learning concepts into designs – enabling ML workflows, supporting GenAI use cases, ensuring platform can handle evolving AI requirements.
- Embed governance, security, and compliance into designs as foundational elements.
- Translate architecture into execution: break down solutions into phases, define realistic roadmap, guide teams through delivery.
- Influence across levels: explain decisions to senior stakeholders, collaborate with engineers, challenge assumptions, align teams, keep momentum.
- Contribute beyond projects: mentoring, internal standards, demos, external knowledge sharing.
- Strong understanding of modern data architecture patterns, distributed systems, and large‑scale data processing.
- Proficiency with the Databricks platform – Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, MLflow, etc. – and ability to design lakehouse architectures.
- Experience with data engineering, data modeling, and machine learning concepts.
- Knowledge of governance, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication skills; able to convey technical decisions to senior stakeholders.
- Experience guiding delivery and stakeholder alignment.
- Databricks certifications or recognition (e.g., Champion)
- Fluency in Dutch
