This is why you want to join us as Manager Molecular Breeding at Enza Zaden- You’ll manage and develop a dedicated crop group team consisting of pre-breeder(s) and genomic breeder(s), focused on molecular breeding innovations.
- You’ll contribute to strategic research projects that directly impact crop development.
- You’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to further develop our molecular breeding impact and implement new breeding technologies.
- Lead, develop, motivate and coach the assigned team members for a specific crop group.
- Develop an approach on crop group level and best practice processes to implement new genetics/traits in collaboration with your team and ensure continuous improvement.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable research initiatives in collaboration with the Research Portfolio Manager and Crop (Group) Management Teams.
- Guide the implementation of new bio-molecular and data-driven breeding techniques and promote their use in breeding programs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations, including Quality and HSE standards.
- Analyze and manage crop data related to genealogy, phenotype, and genotype of complex traits.
- In this role you could act as Key User in projects to develop and implement new tools and software, including training employees.
- Potentially act as Crop IP Specialist to manage crop-related intellectual property.
As a key leader in this role, you will inspire and guide an international team of 10 talented professionals, including genomic and pre-breeders, located across the Netherlands, Spain, and France. You’ll play a pivotal part in shaping strategy as a member of both the crop management team and the molecular breeding management team. In this position, you will report directly to the Global Manager Molecular Breeding.
What you bring as a future colleague- A Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field is required; a PhD is considered an asset.
- 6 to 8 years of relevant work experience in molecular breeding or related fields.
- Knowledge of plant breeding, modern breeding methods, biotechnology, and data analysis.
- Ability to translate complex technologies into user-friendly tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in both functional and people management, with a strong ability to lead, develop, and inspire teams effectively.
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
