How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Are you passionate about creating high-quality educational content that helps learners and teachers succeed worldwide?

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

We are seeking a Content Lead to play a pivotal role in the development of engaging, accessible and pedagogically robust educational resources for International and UK schools. This is an exciting opportunity to influence products that support learners globally while collaborating with talented colleagues, authors and subject experts.

About the role

As a Content Lead, you will take ownership of the writing and development phase of educational publishing projects, ensuring content is delivered to agreed quality, cost and timeline targets. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, authors, freelance editors and reviewers to create high-quality educational resources across print, digital and blended formats.

You will use your editorial expertise and strong understanding of educational content development to shape learning experiences that meet curriculum requirements, support effective teaching and learning, and align with Cambridge's quality standards.

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:

* Leading the writing and development phase of assigned publishing projects.

* Managing relationships with authors, freelance development editors and reviewers.

* Making editorial decisions regarding pedagogy, syllabus coverage, usability and content quality.

* Collaborating with Product, Delivery, Design and other specialist teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

* Monitoring project risks and proactively identifying solutions to maintain delivery schedules.

* Ensuring content meets accessibility, cultural sensitivity and EDIB requirements.

* Supporting endorsement activities and responding to critical content queries.

* Contributing to content planning and representing the Content team in project discussions and approvals.

* Maintaining and developing a high-quality pool of freelance editorial suppliers.

* Providing constructive feedback and guidance to authors and freelance contributors to achieve the best outcomes for learners and teachers

This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.

About You
You will have proven experience within educational publishing and a strong understanding of how to develop effective, engaging and pedagogically sound educational resources. You will be comfortable managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and experienced in making informed editorial judgements that balance quality, commercial and customer needs.

Essential criteria

* Proven experience working within an educational publishing environment.

* Strong understanding of educational content development and current pedagogical approaches.

* Experience managing authors, freelance editors or other external suppliers.

* Experience delivering complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, priorities and dependencies.

* Excellent communication skills, including providing clear, constructive and sometimes challenging feedback.

* Strong editorial judgement and experience maintaining high-quality standards across educational content.

If you meet the above minimum requirements, we encourage you to apply. Your application will be even stronger if you can also demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

* Teaching experience or direct experience working within education.

* Knowledge of curriculum, syllabus and assessment design.

* Familiarity with editorial standards, style guides and publishing best practice.

* Professional publishing qualifications such as CIEP accreditation

For a detailed job description, please refer to the link at the bottom of the advert on our careers site.

Please note that Cambridge University Press & Assessment will not ordinarily be able to provide sponsorship for vacancies of less than 12-months in duration. Applicants must therefore have an existing right to work in the UK to be eligible for this position.

If you are shortlisted and progressed through the stages, you can expect:

* One stage virtual interview via MS Teams. You will be provided with a brief to complete a role related task which will need to be returned by email in advance of your interview.
