How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Exciting Opportunity for a Full-Time Supply Geography Teacher in Durham!

Are you a passionate and knowledgeable Geography Teacher looking for a rewarding full-time opportunity? We are pleased to offer an exciting position at a welcoming secondary school in Durham. This role will begin after the May half term and involves covering an ongoing staff absence, offering the chance to make a real impact on students' learning within a supportive school environment.

The Role:
As a Supply Geography Teacher, you will play an important role in delivering engaging and thought-provoking Geography lessons to secondary school students. You will support students in developing their understanding of the physical and human world while encouraging curiosity about global issues and environments.

Your responsibilities will include:
" Planning and delivering engaging Geography lessons in line with the national curriculum
" Inspiring students to develop an interest in geographical processes, environments, and global issues
" Assessing students' progress and providing constructive feedback to support their development
" Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and curiosity
" Supporting students of varying abilities through differentiated teaching strategies
" Working collaboratively with the Humanities department and wider school staff

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should ideally have:
" Experience teaching Geography at secondary school level
" Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject
" Excellent classroom management and communication skills
" The ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of all learners
" A commitment to supporting students' academic progress and engagement
" Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification
