Procurement Assistant – Secure Business (hybrid working)

We’re looking for motivated and capable Procurement Assistants to join our growing Secure Business Procurement team, supporting procurement activity across Defence and Security clients, including innovative technology, research and development, goods, works and services.

The role is also suitable for someone looking to undertake a CIPS Level 3 Apprenticeship.

The Role

Working alongside experienced procurement professionals, you’ll support clients and suppliers throughout the procurement process and gradually take on greater responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Supporting clients with procurement and sourcing requirements across a variety of categories

* Assisting with end-to-end procurement processes under the guidance of experienced colleagues

* Researching and identifying suitable suppliers and service providers

* Communicating directly with clients and suppliers, responding to queries and providing updates

* Supporting the onboarding of new suppliers

* Responding to system and service support queries

* Maintaining accurate procurement records and documentation

* Using SharePoint and internal systems to manage information

* Monitoring shared inboxes and ensuring queries are dealt with promptly

* Organising meetings and supporting client and supplier engagement

* Providing wider administrative support to the procurement team

About You

You don't need to be an experienced procurement professional. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, strong communication skills and a genuine desire to learn and develop.

You'll ideally be someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable taking ownership of your work. You'll enjoy dealing with different people and be confident communicating with both clients and suppliers.

You'll need:

* GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Good literacy and numeracy

* Strong attention to detail

* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage your workload

* Confidence working with data, systems and documentation

* Good Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams

* A proactive approach and willingness to learn

Previous experience within an office or professional working environment would be beneficial, as would a basic understanding of procurement, but neither is essential.

Security Requirements

As you'll be supporting clients within the Defence and Security sector, you must be able to successfully complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check and be willing and eligible to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance in the future.
