W Talent are exclusively representing a well-established manufacturing company who are looking to recruit a permanent Handyman to support the day-to-day running, maintenance and upkeep of their facilities across two sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical, hands-on background, particularly those with previous handyman, caretaker, facilities or general maintenance experience, who enjoys keeping a busy manufacturing environment safe, compliant and well maintained.

Job Description

The successful Handyman will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the company's facilities across two sites.

Working closely with the Engineering Supervisor and wider engineering team, you will complete routine facility and compliance checks, carry out basic repairs and maintenance, identify faults and ensure any issues are appropriately recorded and escalated.

The role would suit someone with a practical background in handyman, caretaker, facilities or general building maintenance, who is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of the condition and functionality of the site.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out general handyman and basic maintenance tasks across the company's facilities
Complete routine facility and compliance checks across both manufacturing sites
Complete building, grounds and general facility inspections
Record checks including legionella, water testing, water temperatures, meter readings and antifreeze levels
Complete emergency lighting, fire door and fire alarm checks
Carry out weekly and monthly preventative maintenance checks
Identify faults, hazards and maintenance issues and raise Engineering Reports through the Agility system
Carry out straightforward repairs immediately where appropriate and accurately record completed work
Monitor and report issues relating to lighting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and structural equipment
Escalate more complex maintenance issues to the Engineering Supervisor and support the arrangement of external contractors
Complete stock checks, order supplies when required and maintain an organised stock area
Ensure tools, equipment and materials are maintained and stored correctly
Complete compliance checks through JotForm and other relevant systems
Support the engineering team with outstanding repairs and maintenance requirements
Ensure walkways, emergency exits and external areas remain clear, safe and accessible
Support emergency procedures, including fire drills and site incidents where required
Maintain accurate job-specific logs, checklists and maintenance records
Work closely with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve facility requirements
Support audits and inspections by ensuring facilities are maintained to a high standard
Follow all company health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE
Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the wider business

Key Requirements

Previous experience in a handyman, caretaker, facilities, building maintenance or similar practical role
Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to carry out basic repairs and maintenance
Experience maintaining buildings, facilities, grounds or general site infrastructure
Good understanding of workplace health and safety
Ability to identify hazards, faults and areas requiring repair
Strong attention to detail when completing checks, records and compliance documentation
Good organisational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks across different sites
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineering and production teams
Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and Safety Data Sheets
Physically capable of standing, walking and lifting up to 20kg

Advantageous Requirements

Previous experience as a Caretaker or Handyman
Basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical or building maintenance experience
Experience completing facility or compliance checks
Experience using maintenance reporting systems or CMMS
Experience working with contractors and external service providers

Details & Benefits

Salary: £29-30K
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
Working Pattern: Typically split across both sites, with flexibility required between locations

This is a hands-on Handyman position rather than a general cleaning role, with responsibility for basic maintenance, facilities upkeep, compliance checks and identifying issues across the sites.
