HR & Payroll Advisor

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000
Location: Luton, relocating to Milton Keynes in January
Permanent | Full Time

Hours: Monday to Thursday – 8.30 – 5.00 pm and Friday 8.30 -4.00 pm

We are recruiting for a HR and Payroll Advisor to join a growing and supportive business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in HR who is looking for a varied role covering the full employee lifecycle.

You will work closely with the People team and play an integral part in the day to day HR function, with responsibility across payroll, HR administration, recruitment, onboarding, compliance, employee development and reporting.

A key part of this role will be payroll. The business currently works with an outsourced payroll provider, with plans to bring the payroll function in house in the future. You will therefore need previous payroll experience, a good understanding of P11Ds, tax and National Insurance, and most importantly, enjoy working with numbers and data.

What will you be doing?

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting and coordinating the payroll process, with the opportunity to take greater ownership as payroll moves in house
• Producing and reviewing HR data and reports
• Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems
• Ensuring employee documentation and compliance records are accurate and up to date
• Supporting recruitment, including interviewing and candidate management
• Managing onboarding and inductions for new employees
• Supporting training and development activities
• Coordinating appraisals and performance reviews
• Supporting employees throughout the full employee lifecycle
• Assisting with employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances and absence management
• Supporting leaver processes and, where required, dismissals
• Administering employee benefits and contributing to annual benefit reviews
• Identifying opportunities to improve HR systems, processes and procedures

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is organised, articulate, personable and confident, but who also genuinely enjoys the analytical and administrative side of HR.

You will ideally have:

• CIPD Level 3 qualification
• Previous experience within a generalist HR role
• Hands on payroll experience
• Knowledge of P11Ds, tax and National Insurance
• Strong numerical and data skills
• Experience using HR systems and producing reports
• Recruitment and onboarding experience
• Strong HR administration and compliance experience
• Excellent attention to detail
• Confidence using systems and processes
• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership

This role could be particularly suited to an HR graduate or developing HR professional with a couple of years of practical experience who is ready to take the next step in their career.
