The Foundation comprises two schools: Abingdon School and Abingdon Prep School, as well as Abingdon School Enterprises. Abingdon School is a leading independent day and boarding school with more than 1,000 pupils aged 11-18. Currently a boys’ school, it will become co-educational from September 2026.
Abingdon Prep School is a vibrant and warm day preparatory school with around 200 pupils aged 4-13 which has been co-educational since last year. Both Schools are situated in beautiful and extensive grounds, with the senior school in the heart of Abingdon on Thames, just south of Oxford, and the Prep School located a few miles away in nearby Frilford.

Theatre and Events Supervisor - The Role:
This is a varied, hands-on role combining Front of House and customer-facing operations at the Amey Theatre with the planning and delivery of commercial events through ASE. Working closely with the Theatre Technical Manager and Events and Courses Manager, you will support the delivery of school and commercial events, manage theatre operations, and develop the commercial events programme. The role involves Duty Manager responsibilities ensuring events run safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will work with theatre technical and casual staff, and as the programme grows, you will have opportunities to contribute ideas and support activity across other Abingdon Schools Group sites.
Theatre and Events Supervisor - Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Front of House operations, oversee casual theatre staff rotas, training and compliance
- Manage the Pavilion Bar and theatre food and beverage offering, including licensing, stock control and cash handling
- Coordinate end-to-end delivery of commercial events including client engagement, event planning, logistics, risk assessment and follow-up
- Act as Duty Manager, supporting safe and effective running of events and responding to emergencies
- Manage Box Office operations, customer enquiries and event bookings
- Supervise and manage small event teams including ticket collectors, ushers, fire marshals and bar staff
- Ensure DDA compliance and maintain Front of House operating procedures including risk assessments and training
- Build relationships with clients and potential business partners to support ASE growth
Theatre and Events Supervisor - You:
- Qualified to A Level standard or equivalent relevant experience
- Proven experience delivering and planning events in theatre and/or hospitality settings
- Proven experience managing small teams effectively
- Excellent organisational, logistical and communication skills with ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong customer service skills with a positive, flexible, hands-on approach
- Good IT and administrative skills with attention to detail
- Genuine interest in arts, theatre and events with willingness to attend training including Personal Licence Holder training
- Ability to work under pressure, remain solutions-focused and work collaboratively across teams
- Commitment to safeguarding children and young people
