How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We're looking for a proactive, technically skilled Instrumentation Technician to join our MEICA delivery team, supporting projects across clean water and wastewater treatment sites.

You'll play an important hands-on role ensuring instrumentation is installed, configured and maintained to the highest standards of accuracy, compliance and reliability.

Essential: Full UK Driving Licence

Who we are

Founded in Sheffield in 2004, CHG Electrical has more than two decades of engineering heritage. Built on strong electrical engineering foundations, the business has evolved into a multidisciplinary engineering partner delivering complex projects across water utilities, rail, steel and manufacturing.

Today, our capabilities span MEICA, EICAT, civil engineering, control-panel design and manufacture, automation, software and digital transformation. We support projects from initial design through installation and commissioning to long-term maintenance, combining practical, hands-on engineering experience with modern technology and intelligent thinking.

Throughout that evolution, the principles behind CHG have remained consistent: technical excellence, exceptional quality, safe delivery and trusted long-term relationships. It’s this proven heritage, combined with our ambition to keep innovating, that enables us to deliver reliable, future-ready solutions for some of the UK’s most important infrastructure.

The Opportunity

Working as part of our MEICA delivery team, you'll install, commission, calibrate and maintain instrumentation across clean water and wastewater assets.

You'll work across equipment including flow meters, level sensors, pressure transmitters, turbidity and chlorine analysers and telemetry systems, diagnosing faults and ensuring equipment performs accurately and reliably.

You'll also work closely with EICA Engineers, Project Managers and commissioning teams, giving you broad exposure across project delivery, control system integration and site commissioning.

For someone who wants to keep developing technically, there's clear scope to progress into senior instrumentation or EICA engineering roles as CHG continues to grow.

What You’ll Be Doing

Install, Commission and Maintain

• Install, commission, calibrate and maintain instrumentation across clean and wastewater assets.
• Work with flow meters, level sensors, pressure transmitters, turbidity and chlorine analysers and associated equipment.
• Complete loop checks, functional testing, inspections and verification activities.

Diagnose and Integrate

• Identify and resolve faults across instrumentation, control systems and monitoring equipment.
• Support PLC and SCADA interface checks and control-system integration.
• Collaborate with EICA Engineers, Project Managers and commissioning teams throughout project delivery and site integration.

Deliver Safely and Precisely

• Complete all work in line with RAMS, design specifications, WIMES and wider water-industry requirements.
• Maintain accurate calibration records, inspection logs and site reports.
• Work closely with clients, operators and internal teams to achieve high-quality handovers and smooth operational transitions.
• Champion CHG’s safety culture while ensuring tools, materials and equipment are properly used, maintained and ready for scheduled works.

About You

You'll already have proven instrumentation experience within water, wastewater or another process industry, combining strong technical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach.

You'll bring:

• Proven experience as an Instrumentation Technician within water, wastewater or process environments.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Instrumentation, Electrical, Controls or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of water treatment processes, WIMES-compliant instrumentation and telemetry systems.
• Experience with flow meters, level sensors, pressure transmitters, turbidity and chlorine analysers or similar instrumentation.
• Good knowledge of calibration techniques, fault-finding and loop testing.
• Excellent practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work independently or within multi-skilled teams.
• Full UK driving licence.

Advantageous:

• ECS / CSCS.
• Confined Space certification.
• EUSR.
• COMPEX.

Why CHG Electrical?

You'll be joining a growing water industry contractor where specialist technical capability is valued and there is genuine scope to develop.

Alongside varied MEICA project exposure, you'll receive ongoing training and support to strengthen your instrumentation expertise and take the next step in your career.

You'll receive:

• Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
• Company vehicle or car allowance plus fuel card.
• Performance-related bonus scheme.
• 25 days' annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.
• Ongoing training and calibration certification support.
• Professional development opportunities.
• Progression towards Senior Instrumentation or EICA Engineering roles.
• A supportive, collaborative environment within a growing contractor.

Ready for Your Next Challenge?

If you're an experienced Instrumentation Technician who understands water processes, instrumentation and the importance of getting every reading right, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply now and grow your career with CHG Electrical Ltd.
