Laboratory Assistant - Thetford - FMCG
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented NPD Laboratory Assistant to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with laboratory experience within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment who is looking to take ownership of their role and contribute to the development of innovative products.
Working closely with the Product Development team, you will support a range of New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) activities, helping to ensure products meet quality, performance, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare product samples in line with established specifications and standards.
- Conduct product stability assessments and monitor finished goods quality during production.
- Investigate and report quality issues, supporting corrective actions where required.
- Assist with existing product development and continuous improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Adhere to laboratory best practices and quality procedures.
- Support manufacturing trials and raw material evaluations.
- Provide assistance to the Quality Assurance team when required.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with GMP and laboratory standards.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Laboratory experience, ideally within an FMCG environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the business.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Scientific qualification at degree level preferred, although relevant industry experience will also be considered.
Desirable
- Experience with wet chemistry techniques.
- Product formulation experience.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Strong laboratory and analytical skills.
- Competent IT skills and confidence using business software systems.
