The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
My client, who is a world leading developer of Optical Systems and Instrumentation, now seeks a motivated and Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dedicated R&D Team.
Based at my client’s facility in Oxfordshire, you will play a central role in the design and integration of precision mechanical systems, working on, from compact opto-mechanical assemblies to larger multi-discipline systems and instruments.
You will lead and own the mechanical design of complex systems, sub-systems and components from concept through to manufacture, as well as driving system integration across mechanical, optical, electronic and software disciplines.
Within the role, you will produce detail drawings with material, finish and tolerance specifications suitable for manufacture, as well as ensuring BOMs, work instructions and design records are correct and maintained up to date.
In addition to this you will also lead or support the build and test of prototype assemblies, working hands-on in the workshop and lab, as well as designing and delivering finished products, jigs, fixtures and internal development rigs and setups.
As the successful candidate, you should be able to demonstrable experience in system integration, as well as defining and managing mechanical interfaces to optical, electronic and structural sub-systems.

Qualifications:
It is expected that you will have a Minimum 5 years in a relevant mechanical design role, along with experience of SolidWorks
It is also expected that you will have a good knowledge of current materials, manufacturing processes and their capabilities (machining, sheet metal, injection moulding, casting, etc.)
