The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Job Title: Field Service Engineer
Basic Salary: £35,000 – £40,000
OTE: £42,000–£56,500
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Location: Reading and surrounding areas
Field Service Engineer required to join a growing team, covering a field-based territory and attending customer sites to carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical experience, with training available for candidates from a range of transferable backgrounds.
You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment at customer sites, carrying out preventative maintenance and responding to reactive breakdowns.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
Completing LOLER inspections and associated maintenance requirements
Attending customer sites to carry out reactive repairs
Managing your own field-based territory and working independently
Completing all relevant service reports and documentation
Working closely with customers to ensure equipment is maintained to a high standard
Parts will be delivered directly to you or the customer site as required
Experience you will need:
Experience as a forklift engineer / plant fitter / Agricultural technician / marine engineer or similar
Previous experience in a Field Service, Mobile Engineer or Engineering role
Practical experience working with both hydraulics and electrics is essential
A full UK driving licenceYour Package:
Basic Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum
OTE: £42,000–£56,500 (including regular overtime and door to door pay)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x hourly rate, with approximately 5–10 hours available per week
