Overview of Peer Youth Mental Health Worker

West Sussex Mind is looking for a Peer Youth Mental Health Worker to join our successful young people’s service, BeOK. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive and dedicated team working together to help young people aged 16–25 improve their mental health and wellbeing.
The peer element of this role recognises the value of lived experience in supporting others. We particularly welcome applications from people who have personal experience of mental health challenges and accessing support as a young person, and who feel ready to use that experience in a positive and supportive way to help others.
You may also have experience working with young people in roles such as youth work, school pastoral support, housing services, or similar settings, which you can bring to our team.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of young people’s mental health, gained through lived experience, training, or professional work.
You will be:

* Comfortable sharing appropriate lived experience to support and inspire others
* A strong team player who works well with colleagues and volunteers
* Creative, flexible and confident engaging young people in different types of activities
About the Peer Youth Mental Health Worker role
As a Peer Youth Mental Health Worker, you will support young people through a range of activities and opportunities designed to improve wellbeing and build confidence.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Contributing to and leading face-to-face and online social, creative and leisure activities for young people
* Delivering recovery-focused one-to-one sessions, group support and learning opportunities
* Working closely with Youth Mental Health Workers and volunteers to ensure young people receive the best possible support

Location and travel
Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own transport, as the role involves working across a wide area including travel across the Manhood Peninsula. Mileage will be paid for travel beyond the agreed base.
