The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
About the Role I am seeking experienced **Adults Lawyers** to support Dorset Local Authority on a temporary basis for an initial 3‑month assignment. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality legal advice and representation across Adult Social Care matters, with a strong emphasis on **Court of Protection** and **Mental Health** work.
You will manage a varied caseload, provide clear and practical legal advice to client departments, and handle complex statutory responsibilities. At least one appointed candidate must have demonstrable experience managing **Deputyship applications** in the Court of Protection.
Key Responsibilities - Manage a caseload of Adult Social Care legal matters - Conduct Welfare and Section 21A applications in the Court of Protection - Provide advice on Ordinary Residence matters - Handle Nearest Relative applications - Manage and advise on Deputyship applications - Provide legal advice relating to the Mental Health Act - Attend hearings and undertake advocacy where required - Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
Skills & Experience Required - Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a valid practising certificate - Proven experience in Adult Social Care law - Strong experience in Court of Protection matters, including Welfare and Section 21A applications - Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Act - Experience advising on Ordinary Residence and Nearest Relative matters - **Essential:** must have experience managing Deputyship applications - Excellent communication and case management skills - Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage competing priorities
