How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor
    Mixed Tenure Developer
    Permanent
    Dorset - Exeter

    Joining a people Gold employer, who value, train and support their staff! 

    Seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor, to manage a large volume scheme in Dorset. Based on site you will need to attend the Exeter office at least once per week. Delivering mixed tenure housing across multiple sites through the south west, therefor a varied background in housing and contracting would be advantageous however sole experience in either will be strongly considered!

    As Quantity Surveyor, you take commercial control of your own project, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, dealing with all elemental reconciliations and cash flow forecasts. You will manage cost control procedures, contributing to effective cash management, completing all of sub-contractor administration and identifying and managing risk of developments.

    You will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a background in social housing. You will be knowledgeable on measurement and valuation, final accounts and sub-contract orders and buying, coupled with competency in COINS. Client-driven, with strong decision making and communication skills, candidates will be able to prioritise work against tight deadlines and sometimes conflicting priorities.

    What’s needed:

    Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor able to manage your own schemes
    A strong housing background, either developer side or contracting 
    Volume experience would be desirable
    Excellent IT skills and ideally COINS is desirable but not essential.
    A team player who is also able to work well independently 
    Strong Commercial awareness
    Detailed and thorough approach to work
    Analytically reporting skills
    Excellent communication
    Well organised and able to prioritise work
