Document Controller - Construction

Location: Luton, Bedfordshire
Working Pattern: 5 days per week on site
Start Date: Within the next few weeks

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Document Controller to join a construction project in Luton, supporting the full document control and administration function for a major residential development.

This is a fully site-based position, 5 days a week, so we are particularly interested in candidates who are based in Luton or within a commutable distance.

The Role

As Document Controller, you will take ownership of the project's document control processes, ensuring information is accurately recorded, distributed, maintained and readily accessible to the project team and wider stakeholders.

You will work closely with the site and project teams, managing the flow of project documentation and supporting the wider administration requirements of the development.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full document control process for the project
Maintain accurate and up-to-date document registers
Upload, issue, distribute and track project documentation
Manage drawings, specifications, reports, correspondence and other technical documentation
Ensure documents are correctly controlled, versioned and filed
Coordinate information between the project team, subcontractors, consultants and client
Monitor document revisions and ensure the correct information is being issued
Support the project team with general administration and document-related requirements
Maintain clear audit trails and ensure project information is easily accessible
Assist with the management and organisation of project records throughout the buildAbout You

We are looking for someone with previous Document Control experience within the construction industry, ideally from a main contractor, developer or similar project environment.

You will need to be organised, detail-focused and confident managing a high volume of project information while working closely with site and office-based teams.

Experience with an EDMS (Electronic Document Management System) is desirable. The project currently uses Fieldview, while the client uses Autodesk, so experience with these or similar construction document management systems would be advantageous.

Essential Experience

Previous experience as a Document Controller within construction
Good understanding of construction documentation and document control processes
Strong organisational and administration skills
Excellent attention to detail
Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and managing deadlines
Good IT skills and confidence using document management systems
Ability to work 5 days per week on site in LutonDesirable

Experience with Fieldview
Experience with Autodesk
Experience using other construction EDMS platforms such as Aconex, Viewpoint, Asite, Procore or similar
Previous experience working on residential or new-build construction projects
