The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join an established construction and property business specialising in high-end residential projects across the countryside and Home Counties.
The business delivers a diverse portfolio of bespoke country homes, rural estates, historic properties, new-builds and high-quality refurbishments, often involving complex construction and exceptional standards of finish.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to work on distinctive, high-value projects where quality, attention to detail and commercial management are equally important.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Prepare and maintain cost plans, budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections.
Lead procurement and tendering of subcontractor and supplier packages.
Obtain, analyse and negotiate quotations and subcontract agreements.
Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment and monthly cost reports.
Monitor and manage variations, changes and commercial risks.
Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and final accounts.
Identify commercial opportunities and ensure projects remain within agreed budgets.
Work closely with project managers, construction teams, architects, consultants and clients.
Assist with estimating, tendering and pre-construction activities.
Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction.
Experience in high-end residential, luxury residential, refurbishment, heritage or bespoke construction.
Strong cost management, procurement and commercial reporting skills.
Experience managing variations, valuations and final accounts.
Good knowledge of construction methods, materials and subcontractor procurement.
Strong negotiation, communication and organisational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach.
The ability to build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
Good IT skills, particularly Excel and relevant commercial systems. MRICS or working towards chartership would be advantageous, although relevant experience and commercial capability will be highly valued.
