What you'll be doing;
* List, package and label hazardous waste streams at customer sites across the Southern UK region
* Assess drums and their contents at customer premises to determine appropriate handling and classification
* Collect wastes from customer sites and ensure safe transportation in 3.5t Luton vans in accordance with road transport and hazardous waste regulations
* Use IT systems to generate transport documents, reference safety data sheets and generate quotes when required
* Pump, decant and re-drum rusty or leaking containers safely
* Sample various waste streams, predominantly hazardous waste, for classification purposes
* Print and complete labels and ensure accurate completion of all documentation to meet customer expectations
* Assess new customer inquiries and provide technical knowledge to customers and colleagues
* Assist with chemist duties in the Hazardous Waste Transfer Station when needed
* Assist with spillage clearance if required
* Maintain adequate stock levels of routine supplies
* Provide basic mentoring to new starters when suitably experienced
* Foster good customer relationships and comply with all customer site rules
What we're looking for;
* Minimum A-Level Chemistry or a degree/HNC in Chemistry or relevant scientific qualification (essential)
* Valid UK driving licence (essential)
* Good interpersonal skills for dealing with customers professionally
* High level of literacy and numeracy for accurate documentation
* Knowledge of environmental legislation (desirable)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Problem-solving skills with ability to find solutions independently
* Enthusiastic, willing to learn and adaptable
* Flexible with daily working hours as jobs may occasionally finish late
* Compliance-focused mindset with commitment to Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and COSHH regulations
* ADR Licence, Forklift Truck Licence and First Aid qualifications desirable (training provided if not held)
* Mobile role - must be comfortable working at various customer sites across the Southern region
