Overview of the Regional Service Controller role
Manage all maintenance, repair and inspection activities within a designated area, ensuring timely, cost-effective service delivery. Build strong relationships with internal and external customers, coordinate breakdowns and planned maintenance, monitor inspection contracts, and collaborate with Service Control and other departments. Accurately prioritise workloads and maintain detailed records within internal systems to support efficient service operations.
Duties of the Regional Service Controller
Manage customer calls, log repair requests, and respond to service enquiries promptly and professionally.
Schedule and coordinate Mobile Service Engineers, maximising resource utilisation based on workload, capacity and geographical location.
Plan and manage preventative maintenance contracts, ensuring work is completed efficiently, on time and within budget.
Maintain regular communication with customers, providing updates on job progress and resolving queries while delivering excellent customer service.
Liaise with Service Control Supervisors, Field Operations Managers and internal departments to resolve issues and support business projects.
Accurately process service jobs, engineer reports, vehicle parts sales and supporting documentation using internal systems.
Monitor completed and outstanding service work, ensuring accurate records are maintained and providing administrative support to meet business needs.
Required skills for the Regional Service Controller
Experience in a similar role (dealing with vehicle breakdowns, scheduling services etc) is essential, and knowledge of the HGV sector is a bonus.
Ability to monitor key service KPIs, including safety defects, overdue services, work in progress, aged jobs and administrative accuracy.
Plan and coordinate Field Service Engineers and third-party contractors to maximise efficiency and resource utilisation.
Manage customer enquiries (phone and email) and maintain a high standard of customer service throughout the service process.
