About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Mortgage Underwriter to join an established lending team based in Loughborough.
Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team consisting of Senior Underwriters, Underwriters and Administrative Support colleagues, you will play a key role in assessing mortgage applications and delivering excellent service to brokers and customers.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong underwriting experience who enjoys working in a customer-focused environment and wants to be part of a respected and growing organisation.

Working hours between 8:00am - 5:00pm

Key Responsibilities
Assess and underwrite mortgage applications in line with lending policy and regulatory requirements
Review customer income, expenditure, credit profiles and supporting documentation
Make informed lending decisions within delegated authority levels
Liaise with mortgage brokers, solicitors and internal departments to progress applications efficiently
Provide excellent service and clear communication throughout the underwriting process
Support Senior Underwriters where required on more complex lending cases
Ensure all work complies with FCA regulations and internal risk controls
Maintain accurate records and case notes
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous mortgage underwriting experience
Strong knowledge of mortgage lending criteria and regulations
Excellent attention to detail and decision-making skills
Strong communication and organisational abilities
The ability to manage workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment
A team-focused approach with a positive and professional attitude
Desirable
Experience within a Building Society or specialist lending environment
