Our client, a growing specialist contractor within the construction sector, is seeking a Technical Designer & Estimator to join their expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual with AutoCAD experience who enjoys combining design, customer engagement, and commercial responsibilities. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality technical designs, supporting project estimates, and acting as a trusted point of contact for customers, architects, and contractors.
The Role
Working closely with the design, sales, and operational teams, you'll be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings, supporting project tenders, and helping to grow the company's design service.
Key responsibilities include:
Design & Technical Support
Producing accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings and technical detailing
Interpreting architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements
Preparing professional drawing packages and technical submissions
Supporting architects, contractors, and clients with design solutions
Attending design meetings both remotely and on-site
Managing drawings and documentation through customer document control platforms
Estimating
Producing accurate cost estimates and tenders
Completing material take-offs from drawings and specifications
Liaising with manufacturers and suppliers to secure competitive pricing
Supporting pre-contract meetings and site surveys
Assisting with variations and additional pricing throughout project delivery
Following up quotations and supporting project conversion activities
Client Engagement
Delivering presentations and CPD sessions
Building strong relationships with customers, consultants, and contractors
Acting as a technical point of contact throughout the project lifecycle
Supporting the promotion and growth of the company's design service
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who have:
Experience using AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD software
The ability to interpret technical and architectural drawings
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
A proactive and solution-focused approach
