Nursery Lunch Time Helper

Location: Oban’s 1st Steps Day Nursery, Oban, Scotland

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Monday to Friday 10:30am - 2:30pm

The Role

We are looking for a caring and reliable Nursery Lunch Time Helper to support our nursery team during busy lunch and afternoon periods. This role involves assisting children during meal times, helping maintain a calm and safe environment, and supporting children with afternoon rest and nap routines.

Key Responsibilities

Support children during lunch and snack times
Encourage positive eating habits and good table manners
Assist younger children with feeding where required
Prepare and tidy dining and activity areas before and after meals
Help maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
Support children with afternoon sleep and rest routines
Create a calm, comforting environment during nap times
Supervise children to ensure their safety and wellbeing at all times
Work closely with nursery practitioners and room staff
Follow nursery safeguarding, health & safety, and hygiene procedures

Caring, patient, and nurturing nature
Enjoys working with young children
Reliable and punctual
Good communication and teamwork skills
Calm and positive attitude
Ability to follow instructions and nursery procedures
Essential Requirements

Genuine interest in childcare and supporting children’s wellbeing
Ability to work as part of a team
Understanding of basic hygiene and safety practices
Desirable

Previous experience working with children or within a nursery setting
Food hygiene or childcare-related training
Paediatric First Aid awareness
