How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

About the job

At Metro Supply Chain UK, we're big enough to offer exciting opportunities and long-term stability, but small enough for every individual to make a difference. With approximately 300 colleagues across our sites in Suffolk, Bedford and Wales, we've built a reputation for delivering flexible warehousing and logistics solutions while maintaining the family-business values we were founded on.

JOB SUMMARY

Metro Supply Chain UK is looking for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our friendly team in Snetterton, Norfolk.

Working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, you'll lead a small team of up to three colleagues, helping to ensure the safe, efficient and accurate delivery of day-to-day warehouse operations.

We're keen to hear from candidates with solid warehousing or logistics experience who are ready to take the next step into leadership, as well as those who already have supervisory experience and are looking for a new challenge.

As a business, we're people-centred. Whether that's going the extra mile for our customers or supporting our colleagues to succeed, we believe strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for someone with good emotional intelligence who can motivate others, build positive working relationships, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and support the team wherever needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Within the role, the following are the kinds of tasks and responsibilities that will be included. If you spot something that you’re not able to do, or you haven’t come across before, that is OK. We don’t expect candidates to know how to do everything on this list.

Leadership and People Management

Provide first-line management and day-to-day leadership for the operational team.

Act as the senior Metro Supply Chain representative on the warehouse floor.

Train and support the development of team members in line with job descriptions, competency frameworks and skills matrices.

Provide management cover in the absence of the Operations Manager when required.

Operational Performance

Ensure all operational activities, including goods intake, put-away, picking, packing, labelling and despatch, are completed accurately and on time.

Monitor and manage team productivity and accuracy in line with customer requirements and service level agreements.

Optimise the utilisation of labour, equipment and operational resources.

Ensure stock records are maintained accurately and remain up to date.

Understand upcoming operational requirements and ensure appropriate resources are in place to meet demand.

Health, Safety and Compliance

Promote a strong health and safety culture across the operation.

Partner with managers and supervisors to implement health and safety best practice, investigations and corrective actions.

Ensure all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) inspections are completed before use.

For applicable sites:

To ensure all staff follow work instructions provided, complying with our ISO UKAS certified standards ISO 9001, 14001, 45001.

To communicate any non-conformances within the ISO UKAS certified management system.

To raise any upcoming changes which could affect the ISO UKAS certified management system.

To follow environmental policies and procedures and highlight any risks to personnel or the environment.

To ensure compliance with legislative bodies and local authorities.

Customer Service and Continuous Improvement

Develop a strong understanding of customer requirements and challenges.

Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and customer satisfaction.

Build effective relationships with customer and supplier representatives to support operational efficiency.

Reporting and Communication

Work closely with the Operations Manager to understand priorities, requirements and expectations.

Produce regular operational reports, statistics and performance information as required.

Communicate operational updates, issues and priorities effectively across the team and wider business.

Customer Service and Our Way Culture

As a team member, work collaboratively with Metro employees in a team-oriented environment.

Have an exceptional customer service attitude.

Look for ways to say “Yes” to the customer (internal and external).

Promote and support social initiatives driven by other team members.

Follow established processes and, where applicable, help achieve customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Bring a continuous commitment to your quality of work.

Be approachable and show a positive interpersonal style.

Maintain open honest relationships.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

We'd love to hear from candidates who have experience within a warehouse, logistics or manufacturing environment and are comfortable using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused approach are essential.

This role would suit either someone looking to take their first step into leadership, or an existing Supervisor seeking a new opportunity.

While not essential, MHE licences (such as Counterbalance or Reach Truck), IOSH certification, First Aid and Fire Marshal qualifications would be advantageous.

Why Join Us:

*

Work in an environment where safety is our first priority

*

The opportunity to build a career with a growing company

*

Company sponsored social events

*

Community volunteering

*

Death in Service

*

Medical Cover
