The starting salary for this full-time, permanent position is £34,660 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.

This role is open to hybrid working with the right balance. As a team we split our time between collaborating with colleagues in the office and working remotely, including from home. This can be discussed further at interview.

Join Surrey County Council's PLACE Directorate and play a key role in keeping Surrey moving!

Our Network Coordination Team helps manage one of the country's busiest road networks, ensuring residents, businesses and visitors can travel safely and efficiently across the county. Working at the heart of highway operations, you'll contribute to reducing congestion, minimising disruption and supporting the effective delivery of essential works on Surrey's roads.

The Network Coordination Team is made up of a Team Leader, Network Coordinators and Network Coordination Administrators, working closely alongside colleagues in the wider Street Works Team, including Compliance and Technical Support.

As an Assistant Network Coordinator, you'll support the coordination and management of activities taking place on Surrey's highway network. You'll assess permit applications and road space requests submitted by utility companies, contractors and other organisations, ensuring they are accurate and compliant with relevant legislation and procedures.

You'll also maintain and update information across a range of systems, provide support and cover for Coordinators and Administrators during periods of leave, and work closely with the Team Leader, Senior Network Coordinators and Network Coordinators to help deliver an efficient and responsive service.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills:

Experience working within the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) and Traffic Management Act (TMA) legislation, gained within a Highway Authority, Utility Company or a similar environment
A valid Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) accreditation
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to work confidently across multiple systems
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy operational environment
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR)

Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation and will move to new authorities in April 2027. This role is currently employed by Surrey County Council and will remain so until then. If you are employed by Surrey County Council on 1 April 2027, your employment will transfer under TUPE arrangements to one of the new councils, with your current terms and conditions protected.

The provisional allocation for this post is East Surrey Council, subject to final confirmation through the wider transition process later this year.
