The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, the Planning & Scheduling Engineer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all planned maintenance and facilities activities across the plant. This includes developing job plans, organising materials and resources, supporting maintenance strategies, and maximising engineering efficiency through effective CMMS utilisation.
The successful candidate will possess broad maintenance experience across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and controls systems, alongside strong communication and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are consistently followed
Manage and maintain accurate work order requests and priorities
Plan maintenance activities, including materials, equipment, labour, and methods
Prepare and coordinate maintenance kits and resources
Schedule planned maintenance to maximise equipment availability and minimise downtime
Utilise and improve CMMS functionality to enhance maintenance efficiency
Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Review and improve preventative maintenance strategies
Train and coach team members on maintenance best practices
Apply and promote 5S principles across the department
Support reactive maintenance teams when required
Assist with departmental and site improvement projects
Essential Requirements
Time-served apprenticeship in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or equivalent
Minimum Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent
Experience planning preventative and corrective maintenance activities
Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Experience developing or improving planned preventative maintenance strategies
Strong attention to detail and a right-first-time approach
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Experience applying 5S methodologies
Health & Safety accreditation
Salary / Package Details
£40,000 - 45,000
