The Opportunity

This is a consultative technical sales position combining engineering knowledge with relationship management and business development.

You'll inherit an established customer base across the East Midlands whilst being responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities with OEMs, machine builders and manufacturing customers throughout the region.

Success isn't measured by hard selling.

Instead, you'll become a trusted engineering partner, helping customers improve machine performance through technically superior solutions whilst building long-term commercial relationships.

Extensive product training will be provided, but we're looking for someone who already understands the fundamentals of managing customer relationships in an external sales environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage relationships with OEMs, machine builders and industrial manufacturers

• Manage an established sales territory whilst identifying new business opportunities

• Conduct regular customer visits throughout the East Midlands

• Understand customer applications and recommend technically appropriate solutions

• Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations

• Produce quotations and manage opportunities through to order

• Maintain an active sales pipeline and CRM

• Work closely with internal applications, engineering and customer support teams

• Attend exhibitions, customer events and industry networking activities

• Monitor competitor activity and identify market opportunities

Ideal Candidate

We're particularly interested in speaking with candidates currently working as:

• Field Sales Engineer

• Area Sales Engineer

• Technical Sales Engineer

• Business Development Engineer

• Internal Technical Sales Engineer looking to move into external sales

• Applications Engineer with regular customer visits

• Sales Engineer within industrial automation, motion control, mechanical power transmission or capital equipment

You will ideally possess:

• A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or similar

• Around 1-5 years' experience within an external or customer-facing technical sales role

• Experience managing customer accounts and developing new business opportunities

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• A commercial mindset with strong technical credibility

• A proactive and self-motivated approach

• Full UK driving licence
