Head of Cyber Security
Location: Hertford / hybrid, with UK travel
Reports to: CSO/CTO Full time, permanent
The opportunity
For our clients cyber security practice.
It has the balance sheet, client base and infrastructure of an established £36m group behind it, and the blank sheet of a start-up in front of it. We are looking for someone to take it from an emerging line of business to a serious, scaled practice.
This is a build role. You will own the strategy, the commercial model, the partner ecosystem and the team — and you will spend a lot of your time in front of clients and alongside our salespeople making it happen.
What you will own
Sales enablement
* Train and upskill the wider sales team so they can spot, qualify and open cyber conversations
* Act as the expert on client calls and in bids — translating technical risk into commercial language
* Work with marketing on propositions, collateral and campaigns that convert
Strategy
* Define the service portfolio, target markets and three-year growth plan for the practice
* Keep us ahead of the threat landscape, regulation and where the market is moving
Partners and vendors
* Select, negotiate and manage the vendor and distributor relationships that underpin the stack
* Own the build-versus-buy calls on tooling and platforms
Commercial and pricing
* Build the pricing and packaging models — recurring-revenue led, with margin you can defend
* Take responsibility for the practice P&L, deal profitability and forecast
Team
* Design the delivery and support model, then recruit and develop the team behind it
* Set the standards, processes and escalation paths as the client base scales
What we are looking for
* A track record of building or scaling a cyber security practice, ideally in an MSP, reseller or channel business
* Genuinely commercial — comfortable owning numbers, pricing and margin, not just technology
* Credible in front of clients and able to teach people who are not technical
* An established network across UK cyber vendors and distributors
* Certifications such as CISSP or CISM are welcome, but we will take attitude and results over acronyms
* Energy, drive and ambition. This is a build, not a caretake — you need to want that
Success in the first twelve months
* A clear, agreed strategy and service portfolio in market
* The sales team confidently selling cyber, with a qualified pipeline behind them
* Partner agreements and pricing in place and working
* The first hires made and the support function operating
